All citizens of Chile, regardless of the duration of their stay, and all foreigners who stay in the country for at least 60 consecutive days may have to pay the national sales tax (19%) when checking out. To receive tax exemption, foreign citizens must pay for their stay upon entry in foreign currency (not Chilean pesos) or with a credit card issued abroad and present a valid passport along with the migration card they received upon entry into the country. If a person subject to paying the tax and another exempt from the same share a room, the rate may be applied to the entire room.

All Chilean citizens, resident foreigners and foreigners must pay an additional fee (IVA) of 19%. Rates and additional fees must be paid in local currency.

This additional fee (IVA) is not included in the hotel rates. A security deposit of USD 90 is required upon arrival for incidentals. This deposit is fully refundable upon check-out and subject to a damage inspection of the accommodation.
